I don't know about you but I'm getting a bit bored of reading about lots of negative experiences that people post online about bars, breweries, staff, service etc...after all, it seems far too easy to bitch and moan about things.
I got a tweet about the staff at The Rake last night that made me smile as it was a positive one and it's got me thinking and what I'd like you to do is share your experiences in the comments box about great experiences you've had recently or ever really and I'll collate them and post on here in a couple of days time.
I'll get us started with an easy one.
Last Thursday Nick Otley and one of his sales guys, Lee were in town and we had a few beers at The Rake before heading off to Dukes Brew and Que for dinner.
I had not booked dinner, I merely gave them a call and asked if they had three seats available, they said come on down so we did.
The service, as ever was impeccable. The food was amazing(as usual) and the beer was great(also as usual). I had a great evening with friends and everyone went home happy. Dukes is one of my most favourite places to eat and drink and I can't wait to go back.
so that's it. Please share your stories, I'd love to hear them and I think we could use a smile every once in a while.

I went to the Spoons and bought a cheap pint and it was lovely and I was very happy with it. The end.
Awesome. At least someone answered!
It's not really just one awesome experience, as it happens every time I visit my local - Arcadia... But I really do like it when I rock up to the bar after a long shift and I'm immediately passed a taster of something new on the bar and I'm always greeted with a friendly smile followed by "try this one, we're loving it tonight!"
Here in Ireland I persuaded a local bar owner recently to stock some bottles of Galway Hooker.
It's the first time in the 15 years I've been here that anything other than macro stout or lager has been available in my town.
Last night, when I called in, he proudly showed me an expanded range including the Dungarvan Brewing Comnpany and a couple of German beers.
" They've been flying off the shelves with the younger crowd " he said, " I'm even thinking of having a beer festival.
" Have one on me because I would never have thought there was the business there without that Galway Hooker. "
Even some of the " what's that shit you're drinking " brigade have been having a quiet taste of mine although none have yet plucked up the courage to risk the derision of their mates and buy one.
Sometimes I feel a bit like a snake oil salesman facing a suspicious bunch of local savants.
But slowly, ever so slowly, the fightback against the tsunami of shite served up by Diageo and Heineken is underway.
Popped into the late knights Rebellion bar by gipsy hill station last night for the first time. Was a bit wary in advance, thought it was a bit too hipstery. However I was very pleasantly surprised. Lovely friendly, knowledgeable service and a cracking pint of beer :) will definitely be back.
